Community Volunteer Resources

Welcome

Welcome to the Community Volunteer Resources’ website.  Volunteer Resources strives to ensure that volunteer participation through both direct and indirect services enhances, complements and strengths the quality of care for our clients.  To this end we have a variety of volunteer opportunities that support patient and family centered care.

What does “Community” refer to?  Community refers to volunteer programs not run at a hospital site.  Volunteers provide support throughout the City of Calgary for a variety of programs.  Our programs are held in Community Centres, at Churches, in Community Health Centres (for example Acadia, North Hill and Village Square) at Urgent Care Sites (Sheldon Chumir and South Calgary Health Centres), including the Creative Play Centre at the Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Centre and other facilities throughout the city. Our Birth Companion volunteers meet one on one with our clients anywhere in Calgary.  Flu clinics are held at various Seniors Lodges and other venues around the city.

To view a list of our current volunteer openings please go to our “Volunteer Opportunities” page.

“The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.”

-- DeAnn Hollis
