What do I wear?

(The following information can also be found in your Volunteer Handbook)

As representatives of the Alberta Health Services, the Alberta Cancer Board and the community, volunteers are expected to present a professional image. We ask that you wear comfortable but appropriate clothing. A volunteer may be requested to return home for a change of clothing if not appropriately attired.

  • Wear your uniform and photo ID.
  • Volunteers must wear protective footwear which covers the entire foot, including the heel and toe. The footwear must have a slip resistant sole. Unacceptable footwear include open heel and/or toe footwear, e.g. sandals, open-heeled clogs.
  • Hair should be neatly trimmed and styled; long hair should be tied back.
  • Use moderation and discretion with jewellery and cosmetics. Fragrances should not be worn as they may cause nausea in someone who is unwell. Please ensure personal freshness and hygiene at all times.
  • Shorts, cut-offs, mini skirts or halter tops are not considered professional attire and are not permitted.
  • Jeans in decent repair (no rips) are acceptable.
  • Hose and or hosiery (socks) must be worn at all times.
  • During Stampede week, western wear is permissible.
