Safety Tips for Patients/Clients and Family Members

Patients, clients and family members often tell us they want more information about safety in health care. Following are some of the most important things you can do to help care providers and staff.  Ask your care providers for more patient safety information relevant to your situation.

Communication

Studies show that when people are more involved in their care, they stay safer. Please ask questions. Speak Up.

Medication Safety

Know your own medicine. Health-care providers need to know the medication you take to prevent dangerous drug interactions.

Prevent Falls

Tell staff if you have ever fallen or if you are unsteady on your feet. Ask for help.

Hand Hygiene

Clean hands is the best way to control the spread of germs and infection. Use the Microsan ™ hand sanitizers located at all AHS - Calgary area facilities or wash with soap and water.
