The Environmental Health Department of Alberta Health Services - Calgary Region,  monitors and regulates Special Events & Trade Shows and Temporary Food Service Establishments in the Calgary Region.

Minimum Requirements

To assist you in organizing a safe event, minimum requirements  have been provided to prevent the possibility of food borne illness.

For Organizers & Vendors

Things you need to know if you are the:

If you are having a Special Event or Trade Show that has any or all of the following:

  • food and/or beverages
  • personal services i.e. barbering, hairdressing/braiding, esthetics (e.g. manicures, pedicures, waxing, massage, tattooing, ear/body piercing)
  • petting zoos and animal events

If you are the organizer, you will need to fill out an Organizer Application Form for Special Events & Trade Shows.

If you are providing a food and/or beverage booth/stall or personal services, you will need to fill out the Vendor Application Form for Special Events & Trade Shows.

The reason we have these forms is to give the public a better understanding of what foods/beverages are being served, where they are prepared, who has attended a safe food handling course, proper number of required sinks, types of equipment available, safe food preparation and handling, waste management and to ensure that you have a safe event for the public.
