About Safeworks

Philosophy

Safeworks follows a public health philosophy that reaches people “where they are at”. It is about reducing the negative consequences of a behaviour, and may result in eventual reduction of the behaviour itself. Any positive change is considered harm reduction. It involves openness, and honesty and a non-judgmental attitude.

Mission

Safeworks is a prevention and education program, with a harm reduction philosophy. The first priority to our clients is to their risks related to substance use, but aims for their eventual achievement of a healthier lifestyle

Goal

The goal of Safeworks is a reduction of harm related to substance use and other risky lifestyle choices amongst our target population.* Specifically these include but are not limited to:

Harm related to HIV infection and transmission
Harm related to Hepatitis B and C infection and transmission
Harm related to wound infection

Guiding Principles

To promote respectful and compassionate, non-judgmental holistic care
To provide service that accommodates cultural and economic needs
To bring people and agencies together to provide the best possible information and services to our clients
