Yellow Box Needle Safety Project

The unsafe disposal of needles and condoms, which results from intravenous drug use and the sex trade, poses serious health risks to anyone who come into contact with these objects. In an effort to address this problem, the Calgary Fire Department, the lead organization in this initiative, has developed and introduced a needle disposal box to encourage proper disposal of used needles.

Needle Exchanges in Alberta

GAP Project

The GAP is a result of concerns regarding the increase in HIV among Men who have Sex with Men and Injection Drug Users (MSM IDU) and the lack of connection the Safeworks program has with this high-risk population.

YES Project

The goal of the YES Project is to prevent the spread of HCV and increase youth's knowledge of substance use and risk reduction through a peer-based education and training program.
