Child and Women’s Health Diversity Program Coordinator

Child and Women’s Health Diversity Program Coordinator provides culturally competent clinical consultation, training and workshops to staff, and supports the development of culturally competent service delivery throughout the Child and Women’s Health Portfolio. The Diversity Coordinator, located in the Family and Community Resource Centre at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, conducts research and quality improvement projects to minimize the barriers that exist for immigrant families in accessing health services, and partners with ethno cultural specific community organizations to continue the dialogue of inclusiveness in health care.

Enhancing Cultural Competency: A Resource Kit for Health Care Professionals This resource supports practitioners in having a hands on tool to refer back to in preparation of meeting a family.
Cultural Competency Check Card This is a quick reference card for professionals to illicit questions to support families in diagnosis.
Multicultural Practice Competencies Tool This is an in depth assessment tool looking at awareness of client's worldview, awareness of professionals world view and knowledge and skills regarding practice with cultural diverse families.
Immigrant and Refugee Women's Cultural Health Practices: A Guide for Health Care Professionals From Postpartum to menopause this guide discusses cultural practices as well as the behaviors of some immigrant/refugee women.
