3 Cheers for the Early Years

About Us

In September 2000, the First Ministers signed the Early Childhood Development Accord. This Accord designated funds through the Canada Health and Social Transfer to the Provinces for Early Childhood Development (ECD) Initiatives. The current ECD Accord and its funding was in place until March 2008. Alberta’s ECD funding has been invested in several initiatives. Young Family Wellness: A Public Health Initiative is one of these initiatives and is led by Alberta Health and Wellness.

The Young Family Wellness Initiative expands and builds upon existing prevention, protection, health promotion and early intervention services offered by public health service providers. In the Calgary Health Region, the regional projects supported by this funding is known as 3 Cheers for the Early Years. In our rural communities our initiative is called Young Family Wellness.
