• Access Mental Health is a central non-emergent access and intake point for all new clients attempting to gain entry to Calgary Health Region child and adolescent mental health services
• Screens and completes referral packages for a number of identified programs within adult mental health and refers to more appropriate services when required
• Facilitates equitable and transparent access to Calgary Health Region mental health services
• Attempts to present "one face" to mental health services in order to decrease the confusion over the myriad of mental health services
• Streamlines the process of accessing mental health services in the Calgary Health Region
• Provides accurate information about mental health services to external and internal services including wait times
• Matches callers to the right service, right place and the right time
• Advocates for users of Access Mental Health service by ensuring that services follow through and provide the service they say they will
