Step 1:

  Weed out Transitory Records - Not all records need to be kept. View the Transitory Records policy and general guidelines for identifying transitory records here.

Step 2:

  What is the Records Retention for my Records? - View and print the Records Retention Guide, learn how to use it and find out how it was developed.

Step 3:

  How do I "schedule" Records - Archives and Information Management will help you determine what series of records apply to your area.  This document becomes the future legal reference for retention.

Step 4: 

  I need to set up a Records Management Account Archives and Information Management monitors access to the CHR's service for all records management activities in the region.  PDF Records Management Account Form

Step 5:

  How do I transfer records offsite? First the Series Register must be created to identify your records and submitted to AIM, then fill out a Transfer Order and forward the completed form Archives and Information Management.

 I have records of permanant value - We have a part time archivist responsible for the preservation of our corporate history.  Phone (403) 943-2492.
 I need to destroy records - Transitory records can be destroyed confidentially at any time without permission, but non transitory and scheduled records require a Records Destruction Order.
