Incorporating New Technologies

Future technologies will be an important part of the campus: robotics will be used to assist with surgeries; new electronic monitoring devices will support patient care; wireless communication badges will allow health care professionals to communicate with each other; and the Internet will allow patients and families to access their health care from virtually anywhere.

Quick Facts

The Campus will be located on 44 acres at Deerfoot Trail and 196 Ave. SE – the same size as Chinook Centre mall.
The campus will open with 293 beds and 200,000 outpatient visits beginning in 2011 and growing to 644 beds and 800,000 outpatient visits by 2018.
The Alberta Government committed $1.41 billion towards the first phase of the project.
When the entire project is complete in 2018, there will be about 5,000 staff and 500 doctors working at the site.
