Research & Education

Learning through research is an important way to develop new approaches to providing care. Research will be integrated with patient care to ensure that what we learn is translated into practice for the benefit of patients. The campus will be an important site for educating the nurses, doctors and other health professionals needed to meet our future needs.

Quick Facts

The Campus will be located on 44 acres at Deerfoot Trail and 196 Ave. SE – the same size as Chinook Centre mall.
The campus will open with 293 beds and 200,000 outpatient visits beginning in 2011 and growing to 644 beds and 800,000 outpatient visits by 2018.
The Alberta Government committed $1.41 billion towards the first phase of the project.
When the entire project is complete in 2018, there will be about 5,000 staff and 500 doctors working at the site.
