Survivorship

"Something is lost, but something is gained, in living everyday." Joni Mitchell.

A cancer diagnosis does not have to be a totally negative experience. Cancer can be life altering, perhaps even life threatening, but like many other stressful life events, there is also opportunity. These pages provide information to empower you, to reassess your health, your lifestyle and your choices. In many cases there may be the opportunity to make changes, improve your lifestyle and your chances for an improved outcome.

Within the Calgary Health Region, the Living Well Program in partnership with the Calgary Breast Health Program and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre are now offering the services of Living Well Program to survivors of breast cancer. Fortunately, more and more women and men with breast cancer are surviving and the experience has allowed them the opportunity to examine their lives. The questions being asked by many are, “What factors make the difference between surviving and thriving after the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer?  How do I maximize both the quality and quantity of my life?”
