Breast Cancer

These pages describe the changes in the glandular cells of the breast which have become abnormal enough to be classified as breast cancer. The glandular tissue of the breast is composed of lobules and ducts which connect to the nipple and which most commonly breast cancer arises from. Depending on where in the glandular tissue (lobular or ductal) of the breast the cancer arises, determines the characteristics that are used to classify breast cancer into types. Cancer is graded according to its capacity to invade and staged according to how widespread the disease is currently is known to be.
