VOLUNTEER RESOURCES

These pages are for and about Alberta Children's Hospital volunteers and for those who would like to become volunteers. Welcome!

The Alberta Children's Hospital is a major centre of excellence in Canada for the care and treatment of children from birth to age 18.

The 450 volunteers who contribute approximately 45,000 hours of service a year to the Alberta Children’s Hospital form an important part of the hospital’s team. The hospital has approximately 45 different program areas for volunteers.

As important members of the health-care team, ACH volunteers extend and enhance the quality of care and service provided by Calgary Health Region staff.

All volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment to the hospital of one year, working a set shift, once-a-week. Most placements are daytime hours, during the week and most shifts are three-to-four hours long. In order to volunteer, you must be at least 18 years of age.

Most programs require volunteers to come in at the same time every week for a regular shift. Some programs have more flexible times.
