VOLUNTEER RESOURCES

These pages are for and about Alberta Children's Hospital volunteers and for those who would like to become volunteers. Welcome!

The Alberta Children's Hospital is a major centre of excellence in Canada for the care and treatment of children from birth to age 18.

The Alberta Children’s Hospital currently has over 625 volunteers helping in approximately 55 different program areas.

We have former patients, siblings of former patients and moms and dads of former patients volunteering here. We have college students, university students, and future students volunteering here. We have grandpa and grandma-types, trades-types, retirees, professionals and athletes volunteering here. You get the idea - we have people with all types of backgrounds volunteering with us, but they share a few things in common. They are interested in meaningful interactions with patients and families, and by donating their time, they want to help. The volunteers are committed to the values of the Alberta Health Services, are energetic and enjoy being around kids.

The Alberta Children’s Hospital volunteers are a valued member of the multi-disciplinary teams at the hospital. The Alberta Children’s Hospital volunteers extend and enhance the quality of care and service to our patients and their families.

All volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment to the hospital of one year, working a set shift, once-a-week. Most placements are daytime hours, during the week and shifts are three to four hours long. Please note the Alberta Children’s Hospital has no positions available for volunteers under the age of 18 at this time.
